SPORTS BAR + ALFRESCO

Third project. Same client. Still at BSPN, completed in June 2020 in the middle of a pandemic.

The brief was familiar territory by now: take a sports bar and make it work harder. Draw in a broader crowd, particularly more women, and make the most of what the club had always had but never quite capitalised on. A direct sightline onto Browne Park, home of rugby league in Central Queensland.

The alfresco and beer garden were transformed into genuinely inviting outdoor spaces. Lush greenery, considered materiality, the energy of game day without the grimness that so often comes with it. Inside, the sports bar was refreshed with the same intention. A space that could hold a packed crowd on a big match night and still feel welcoming on a quiet Tuesday.

The Paddock. Named, branded, and designed to feel like somewhere.
